NEPA Launches the Government
Mapping Assistance Program (GMAP)
GMAP is a joint venture between NEPA and National
Geomatica, a company that provides web-based municipal automation software complete with custom built Geographic
Information Systems (GIS).
GMAP provides local governments with comprehensive,
multi-layer mapping down to parcel-level detail through a GIS and data management system via the Internet. GMAP will assist municipalities to more effectively manage
services, as information throughout departments will be available electronically in a single database, linked to a visual mapping system. There is no software or equipment to purchase and the service has various levels of password protection which can allow for
limited access by the public via the Internet.
For additional details or questions regarding GMAP, please contact Brian Langan at (570) 655-5581 ext.
255, blangan@nepa-alliance.org or visit the GMAP website at http://www.nepa-alliance.org/gmap.htm.
