This month, The Bridge opens its doors and clears the walls for a month dedicated to the celebration of SOUND. Local and regional artists, musicians, and the greater community will contribute to this month-long exploration. Famed for innovative choreography blending African-American-based dance with ballet, jazz, and modern, the Philadelphia Dance Company appears nationally and internationally for about 40 weeks each year. Joan Myers Brown and her 17 dancers will bring "blazing physicality and commitment" (The Village Voice) to this exciting mixed repertory program. Click here to learn more about the performance.

Celebrate the creative power of people with disabilities as the VSA Arts of Charlottesville/Albemarle presents the 8th annual VSA Art Show in partnership with Piedmont Council of the Arts. The show, which features work by dozens of area artists, will run January 11 - March 9 at the Martin Luther King Jr. Performing Arts Center; Monday-Friday, 11:00 am - 2:00 pm. Masterlink Films presents a post-production preview of its feature-length film, Road To Roubaix, at The Arts Center in Orange. Road To Roubaix offers a unique look at the world's most prestigious one-day cycling race, Paris-Roubaix. The epic, 160-mile race through the cobbled roads of northern France is as muddy and bloody as road racing gets. The film's director, David Deal, is a resident of Orange, VA and a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Architecture.

Monticello Architecture Tours

January and February 2008

11:00 am, 1:00 pm, 3:00 pm

 

Offered three times daily, these new 75-minute guided house tours will offer an in-depth look at Thomas Jefferson's "essay on architecture." Visitors will have the opportunity to view, hear about, and consider he various structural and decorative elements that have earned Monticello widespread recognition as one of the icons of American architecture. The tour will include rooms on the main floor of the house and the third-floor Dome Room. Click here to learn more about the tours.
