Track running serves two purposes. First, it provides an exact measurable distance for you to time yourself and set timing
goals. And, if you write your times down from week to week you can track your progression. Second, track workouts provide a flat surface for you to
run fast and not worry about auto/bike traffic, hills, etc. Read More...

more). It is supposed to maximize energy, strength, and stamina. And it DOES!! I feel healthier and more capable of

RECENT CONTEST WINNERS!
Here are a few submissions for MOVING COMFORT
OUTFIT.
They Were Asked: "What motivates you?"
I have loved running for over the last fifteen years but have had many ups
and down throughout the process. Getting married and having two children who are now 10 & 12, plus completing my graduate degree while working
full-time has been exciting yet exhausting! I wouldn’t change anything but know thru all this that running is what kept me sane.
There have been times when I rarely ran and gained weight and thankfully at this time in my life I can say I’m near to accomplishing my
goals. I completed the United States Air Force Marathon on Sept. 16, 2006 and currently have lost a total of 45 lbs with my goal of 55 lbs
being in sight! So, what motivates me to run? It’s the long term effects… how it keeps me fit, keeps me sane, makes me a
better mom and person and has helped me to accomplish goals that I never thought possible! It also is making it possible for me to promote
fitness with my kids who are now starting to run with me so they can be with me when I run the Indy 500 ½ marathon next May.
Pat Trethewey of Indiana
I am currently 21 weeks pregnant with our first baby. When I began
running 8 years ago, I did not fully grasp that with each run, I was creating a running history that would strengthen me for my present and
future. With each run, each trail, each town, city, and country in which I logged miles, I added to that history. Now that I'm pregnant,
I look back with gratitude that I already have running in my life and that base motivates me to keep moving during and after carrying our
baby. I am motivated to keep running because it makes me courageous, disciplined, relaxed, and strong. I know that in the next months and
years, I will need these four traits more than ever.
Mary Flickner of TX
I run to teach my children what a healthy lifestyle looks like, and 3
miles a day speaks louder than a thousand words. I run to be a stronger competitor, teammate, and friend. I run for the
moment of peace and clarity that comes when all I hear on the trail is birdsong and my own breathing. I run to live.
Kristin Anderson of Minnesota
Meeting my friends and knowing they are counting on me to show up is a true
motivation. We all support each other on fast and slow days.Another big motivator is registering for a big race. I take them seriously
and wish I could be in race shape all year.

They were asked: "How do you boost your self esteem?"
My self-esteem booster, especially when I'm scared or nervous about doing something is to think
of this quote: "you often regret the risks you don't take more than the ones you do."
Kari Arch of Wisconsin
My best secret for boosting my self esteem is to help other women feel good about themselves.
It's kind of random, I'll go up to someone and say " wow that color really brings out the color in your eyes, or have you lost weight?" It just makes
me feel good. Megan of Florida
When I need my self-esteem boosted, I spend time with my best friend Carlita. It doesn't matter
if we go to the gym, go for a hike, go shopping or chat over coffee, I always feel better after spending time with her. She makes me laugh and helps
me keep life in perspective which make me feel pretty darn lucky and thankful for what I have and who I am. Thanks to girlfriends!
Dianne of Colorado
Ok, so I saw a cool audio CD on Ellen last week called "Cheers to You" which had me rolling on
the floor. But it seems like a good way to boost your self esteem. ;) It's this guy talking with a background of cheering and clapping, telling you
how great you are.
