Not everything in your student’s room needs to go in the dumpster or to their summer location. There is an
environmentally friendly alternative with the Pack Up, Pitch In Program. Collection bins are available in the hall for students to donate books,
clothing, unopened / non-perishable food, toiletries, loft lumber, carpet, electronics (basically anything with a cord or battery), usable furniture,
and bikes. We also recycle low-grade mixed paper, white paper, cardboard, and #1 and #2 plastics.
Lofts
Please note that lofts must be down prior to the start of quiet hours on Friday, April 25. Collection bins
will be available beginning April 16.
Helping Your Student Move Out
Too often, it is the parents who end up doing most of the work during move-out. May we suggest that you plan to
come early, drop off boxes for your student, and then head over to MSU’s Forest Akers Golf Courses while your student does the packing and
cleaning? If space is tight and you don’t think you’ll have room to pack your clubs, that’s not a problem. Forest Akers rents
clubs. Sometimes students tell their parents to pick them up at a certain time, but they’re not really ready for another two hours. So why not
take advantage of that time and get in a round of golf or hit some balls at the driving range? Visit the Forest Akers website to check out their
low rates and book your tee time online: www.golfmsu.msu.edu/.
