Spring Joint Service Projects Around the Bay

This spring, BwB members on both sides of the bay participated in Joint Service Projects to assist their communities. In San Francisco, students helped clean up Stow Lake. In Oakland, they built a patio at a women's shelter. So far during the school year, from September to April, Bay Area BwB students have completed 12,500 community service hours, including the fall and spring Joint Service Projects. CA Trek Trek To Mali: "The Best Experience of My Life"

Sixteen students and one teacher from high schools in the Bay Area traveled to Mali in Africa for the experience of lifetime. They helped build a school by hand, lived with host families, and participated in cultural workshops. Most importantly, they learned new things about other cultures and about themselves. CA Lead Team Dreams Big for New Year

Lead, BwB's yearlong leadership program, started off a new program year with more than 40 members on this year's team. In the past few weeks, students have participated in the official kickoff party, the first workshop where they got to know each other, and the first community service project. Read more about their dreams and plans for the Lead year.

Partners for a Dream Gala set for June 18

On June 18, Building with Books will honor and thank those who have helped change lives for good in the San Francisco Bay Area and around the world. The San Francisco Partners for a Dream Gala, to be held at the Westin St. Francis, will include an international silent auction, dinner and an inspiring program. Last year's event raised $170,000 for BwB programs in California and around the world. We hope you will join us to make this year's event just as successful.
