Don't miss the inaugural InternNashville Networking Event!
This will make a difference in the future of Nashville!
Hundreds are expected, and you want your company to be included!

This exciting networking and mentoring event will create a fun environment where business professionals, professors and students can make meaningful connections. In this reception-style setting, undergraduate students from the Nashville area will be able to learn from businessmen and
-women who are working in their chosen fields. Professionals can continue to build relationships with university faculty who are shaping the workforce of tomorrow.

Don't let the name fool you -- this is not an internship fair and does not require your company to use interns. This event is the exciting kick-off to a larger program that aims to increase the relationships between Nashville-area businesses, colleges and universities. While the other components of the InternNashville Program focus on the value of internships, this event is a unique social opportunity to cultivate relationships for all businesses in the Nashville area. Click here to learn more about the InternNashville Program being launched throughout 2008.

When:
April 15, 2008, 4-6 p.m.
4-4:45 p.m. -- Business and faculty reception
(Business and faculty only)
4:45-6 p.m.-- InternNashville Networking Event

As if your job isn't hard enough!
Now the real estate market complicates your recruiting efforts.

How, you wonder?

Finding the right talent is always a battle. You have a key position to fill; you've honed the job description, consulted with experts, utilized outside recruiters, and now you've got some great candidates, some or maybe all of whom live outside Nashville.

However, those candidates may have more on their minds than just the job. Since a large percentage of relocations involve selling a home, that may become a big concern. In today's market, homes in many areas of the country are lingering on the market for months, and owners must lower their price to make a sale. Areas with higher rates of foreclosure are particularly hard-hit. Read more »

2008 HR Excellence Award Applications due Monday, March 31

Are you looking for a way to confirm that your initiatives are adding value and getting results?
Do you want top executives to develop a better understanding of the strategic role you play in your organization?
Do you need to demonstrate that you deserve a seat at the table?

The Middle Tennessee Society for Human Resource Management (MT|SHRM) and the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce invite you and your organization's HR department to apply for an HR Excellence Award. Applicant organizations are measured against the program's criteria of excellence (not each other), and more than one organization may be chosen for an award.

Overall excellence will be recognized with the HR Excellence Award(s), and excellence in a single area will be recognized with the Facet Award(s). Organizations can apply for the entire award or just one "facet" in one of the five key areas: HR Strategy, HR Management, Training and Development, HR Measurement, and Employee Relations. All applicant organizations receive a confidential audit report and feedback summary. Winners and all applicants will be recognized at our joint MT|SHRM meeting and Awards Luncheon on Thursday, June 12.
