2007:
Year in Review By Adam Small CEO, Strategic Business Network
Nearly recovered from
my Thanksgiving food coma, I believe we all begin to see the final chapter of 2007 unfold. This has been another exciting and, at times, stressful
year for Nashville, our community and young professionals. We elected a new mayor, celebrated retaining the Predators (keeping our fingers crossed)
and the opening of numerous new downtown condos, new bars and restaurants reinvigorating the experience of living and playing in our city's core. No
longer do we read daily about the antics of Pacman Jones, nor receive monotone voicemails from political candidates. Read more »

Third Annual Nashville Young
Professionals Day successful
For three years, the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce and the 20/20 Leadership Alliance have been
providing many opportunities for area young professionals to network and grow their leadership skills. Nashville Young Professionals Day has proven
to be a valuable asset the Chamber offers to the YP demographic.
This year, more than 140 YPs attended this half-day educational opportunity
to learn leadership and success practices from area leaders such as David Freeman, CEO of 36 Venture Capital; Joe Scarlett, Scarlett Leadership
Institute; and Cordia Harrington, Nashville Bun Company. For a complete list of panelists and speakers, please visit www.ypnashville.org.
Howard Gentry, CEO
of the Chamber Benefit Foundation, opened the day with a motivational speech entitled "The Faces of Poverty: Have You Seen Them?" Gentry provided the
audience with some eye-opening statistics on poverty and homelessness in Nashville, and helped the YP demographic see where and how they can be the
solution to this issue.
The Nashville Civic Design Center conducted an educational, interactive session on Livable Communities. YPs were put
into teams and given the chance to rebuild Nashville. Each team was handed a blank map of Nashville, only indicating the Cumberland River, and
challenged to rebuild the city according to their own opinions of what would work best. The cities developed by each team will be available soon on
www.ypnashville.org.
Survey results for the 2007
Young Professionals survey were also revealed at this year's YP Day. To view a summary of these results and find out more about the young
professional demographic in Nashville, click

Nashville YP Day was created in 2005 as an initiative of the
Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce and the 20/20 Leadership Alliance to connect young professionals to diverse opportunities for networking,
professional development and community involvement. For more information about the Chamber's YP initiatives, please visit www.ypnashville.org.
