BwB Members Join Together to "Green" Detroit During Project
On April 19, more than 170 BwB members came out for Michigan's large-scale service project to plant trees and help 'green' neighborhoods in Detroit.
Students from 18 high schools joined students from BwB's newest independent program, Oak Park Academy, to brave the rain and cold to plant 90 trees
in
the Green Acres neighborhood of northwest Detroit.

Michigan's Youth Advisory Council Leads by Example
The members of the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) for BwB Michigan's 17 programs not only help organize
service projects and events for other members, but perform many hours of community service themselves. They are a wonderful example to their peers
and to the

Lead Team Prepares for Busy Summer
Members of Michigan's 2008 Lead Team will spend their spring and summer in service at the
Michigan Veterans Foundation in Detroit.
Lead is a yearlong leadership program focusing on personal, educational and professional development.
From workshops and internships to community service and activism, Lead Team members put their knowledge
into

Pershing High School has been an exciting and rewarding program to facilitate, according to BwB Program Coordinator Russella Davis. The students have

Each year, BwB Michigan recognizes a student and an advisor for their tremendous dedication to
Building with Books' mission and to their school and community. This year, BwB Michigan will award its Regional Global Impact Award - Student to Tom
Hickey (pictured), a senior at the Roeper School in Birmingham. The Regional Global Impact Award - Advisor will be presented to Michelle
