Keeping the Earth Day Momentum Moving!

The 7th annual Nashville Earth Day was so much fun (despite the occasional rain shower), that we're continuing the celebration into May. Everyday is Earth Day here at the Farmers' Market, but join us this Saturday, May 3rd, for a special day of music, workshops,  green groups and our first Walk/Bike Nashville Market Ride.

Join team leaders from Walk/Bike and learn the best route for you, in one of three organized bike trips to the Market. Starting from Hillboro Village, East Nashville or North Nashville, riders will start the day with a relaxing ride to market and be welcomed with a free re-usable market shopping bag. Riders, and all shoppers, can enjoy a full day of fun in our farm sheds and our new Market Midway:

  • 10 a.m. - Come for our inaugural Meet your Farmer event with Catherine Daugherty of Freedom Tree Farms in Pelham, Tennessee.
  • 11 a.m. - Gather at the north end of the market and join Gary Lambeth from Direct Growers to learn about "Square Foot Gardening".
  • Noon to 2 p.m. - Music by John England and the Western Swingers.
  • 1 p.m. - Be prepared for a long hot summer and conserve our water resources through xeriscaping  with Marcus Kerske of Gardens of Babylon.
Throughout the day visit our community partners, such as Friends of the Nashville Farmers Market, Slow Food Nashville, Metro Public Transit Authority, CleanAir Partnership, GreenerNashville,  and Kilowatts Ours.

Meet Your Farmer this season at the Market!

Coming to the Farmers' Market is about getting to know your food. This year we've begun a  "Meet your Farmer" program that starts this Saturday at 10 a.m. with the folks from Freedom Tree Farms in Pelham, Tennessee. Growers Dale Bryan and Catherine Daugherty bring a spectacular selection of fruit producing trees and shrubs to the Market everyday. Freedom Tree Farms is in the process of becoming the only organic fruit tree and shrub producer this side of the Mississippi. Join us from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in stall # 200-202 in Farm Shed I.

Fresh Cut Flower Vendor at the Market

We are so excited to have Joshi Her and family visit the Market this year on Saturdays with their fragrant fresh cut flowers from their farm near Jackson, Tennessee. Starting this weekend in stall #214 in Farm Shed I find a glorious selection of spring blooms and fresh decorations.
