Steve and I leave in just five hours for a trip to Sicily, and planning for our Italian
vacation has inspired these two quick tips from The Positive Zone:
1.
1. Get rid of your baggage!
For this ten-day trip, we’re each taking just one small roll-aboard bag (which I still need to
pack!)
I’ve learned the hard way to NEVER check a bag and, frankly, the LESS stuff I have to lug around, the
MORE fun I have.
It’s also more fun to not lug around a three-piece, matched set of PERSONAL baggage:
Hurt, Anger and Resentment.
Have you ever thought:
“When she said that to me, I should have said
THIS!” OR:
“I’ll never
forgive him/her for what he/she did!” OR
“Just thinking about that makes my blood boil!”
That's PERSONAL baggage that's weighing you down!
Whenever I complain to Steve of wrongdoings, both real and imaginary that
I have “suffered”, he listens
patiently and then says, “Let it go, Louie; let it go!”
Resentment is like carrying a heavy suitcase around all day.
Go ahead, dump that baggage, lighten your load and,
"Let it go, Louie, let it
go!"
2. Just say, "I'll
handle it!
Neither Steve nor I speak Italian and we’ll be driving around clueless in a rental car for a
week. What if we get lost or in an accident?
We’ll handle
it.
The Sicily airport we’re scheduled to fly home from was closed last week by smoke from an erupting volcano.
What if it erupts again?!?
We’ll handle it.
Is there anything in your life YOU want to do; but you’re stopped by all kind
of “what if’s”? Just repeat to yourself:
“I’ll handle it.”
There is great power in knowing that, no matter what happens, you can
and WILL handle it!
So, If you ever catch yourself thinking,
“I’d love to_________________; but what if_______________???”
Just follow that "what if?" thought with, “I’ll handle
it!” and remember:
“Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing at all.” Helen Keller
Until next month…..get rid of your baggage, keep smiling and stay in The Zone!
