Boeing defines QMS Requirements for MRO
Suppliers
On March 17th of this year, The Boeing Company
released a letter to their suppliers stating that they will include quality
management system (QMS) compliance requirements related to FAA regulation 14CFR
145, aerospace standard AS/EN/JISQ 9100 and/or AS/EN 9110 on new Maintenance,
Repair and Overhaul (MRO) supplier contracts, as applicable.
Thus, when the above mentioned regulation
and/or standard is a contractual requirement, Boeing will stipulate that the
supplier achieve and maintain a certification from either the FAA and/or an accredited registrar NQA. Any MRO suppliers with AS/EN
9110
requirements in their contract will be expected to select obtain accredited certification between by September 2009.
This move is a response to the need expressed by suppliers to eliminate redundant QMS assessments. A
standardized assessment process will reduce
redundancies and variations. As indicated by Boeing, the first step in the process is the selection of an accredited
certification body (CB). Boeing will only recognize certification from accredited CB's such as NQA.
For more information or to discuss your registration
needs, please contact Bob
Parsons, Director of Aerospace Programs for NQA, USA.
He can be contacted at rparsons@nqa-usa.com
or by calling the NQA, USA headquarters at 800-649-5289. NQA, USA is a subsidiary of National Technical Systems.
