Employee Compensation Plan
The General Government committee met in special session on Monday to
review the compensation market study and structure adjustment
recommendations from the administration for our employee pay plan. Our
plan has not been adjusted for several years, and needs updating in
order for the city to remain competitive in our region for recruiting
and retaining the highest quality employees. The committee unanimously
approved the change recommendations, with implementation and funding in
the new budget that takes effect July 1.
BOMA Action from Tuesday
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen met in special session on Tuesday with action taken on the following agenda items:
Old Business
1. Approved on final reading the ordinance to create
the use of Veterinary Service (Neighborhood) and permit this use in PC
and NC districts.
2. Approved on final reading the rezoning of 15.78
acres from GC to CC along both sides of Columbia Avenue south of Five
Points.
3. Adopted on final reading the annual operating and capital improvements budget for FY2008.
4. Approved on final reading the establishment of the property tax rate for FY2008.
5. Approved resolution adopting a pay and classification plan.
New Business
1. Postponed to July construction engineering
inspection proposal for the intersection of Royal Oaks Boulevard @
Highway 96 East.
2. Approved professional services agreements for the
downtown gateways and corridors economic development program for
Franklin Road from Harpeth Industrial Drive to the Harpeth River.
Community and Economic Development from Yesterday
The Parks Advisory Committee has been combined with Community and
Economic Development, and we met yesterday afternoon. The first item of
business was to review the placing of a conservation easement on the
Park at Harlinsdale Farm, which was approved. We also approved three
contracts with TDOT accepting state grants totaling more than one
million dollars toward linear park projects in Fieldstone Farms, along
Spencer Creek and at Bicentennial Park. The city will provide a
matching fund contribution of 20% toward these projects, funds that are
budgeted in the current year. These grant applications have been in the
works for several years, and my congratulations go out to Lisa Clayton,
David Parker and Kelly Dannenfelser specifically, and to staff in
general for working with the state to make this happen.
BOMA for Tuesday, 6/26
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen will meet in special session on
Tuesday, June 26, for continued discussion of the Zoning Ordinance.
This should be the final wrap up of this process, and hopefully we can
approve this ordinance on first reading.
Building Committee Meeting for 6/26 Cancelled
The special meeting of the Civic Buildings committee scheduled for
Tuesday, June 26, has been cancelled. This meeting was for the purpose
of reviewing the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for redevelopment of
the city hall site, but staff has requested more time to revise this
document. We will meet at 5:00 on July 10 to finalize this process.
