Help FR Help You!
We are often asked by members how they can help FR grow and prosper for the benefit of all. Outlined below are a few simple things you can
do to help.
-
Recruit new members and get free credit for each new member that enters your nickname or email address during
signup and then lists 5 or more books.
-
List books that are in demand and are in good condition. Other members benefit by getting quality,
desirable books and you benefit by earning credit that you can use to request the books you want to read.
-
Welcome new members with a Private Message. Request their books to help them get going and you may just start
a friendship. Remember how badly you wanted a request when your Shipping Record was 0 / 0.
-
Buy credits and use them to request books. Credits cost as little as $2.50 each - a bargain when you consider that you
don't pay for shipping!
-
Buy from Amazon.com by using an FR Buy Now button, an Amazon search box (see home page) or this Amazon link. FR benefits regardless of
what you buy at Amazon. Just start your online shopping trip with a click of an FR Amazon link and you will help us support and build a better FR!
-
Click a banner
ad if you see a product or service that you like! FR gets a small payment for each click of an ad link
served to our site by Google.
We
all benefit when you help FR and your fellow members. So help FR help you today!
Member Spotlight Our 11th member to enjoy the spotlight is Gail Clancy [gclancy].
Gail has been an FR member for about 18 months and has spent many weeks atop the Top Traders list. You'll often
find contemporary favorites in Gail's listed books. Gail, thanks for sharing!
Why do you
read?
I'm
not sure why I read, it’s just something I've always done, for as long as I can remember. If I'm sitting in one place for more than 30
seconds, I must have a book or magazine in my hand.
When
and where do you most enjoy reading?
My favorite places are the bathtub, during a nice long soak or in bed at night before falling
asleep.
What is your
favorite recently read book?
I've had a good string of books lately. How to Be Lost by Amanda Eyre Ward and Red
Leaves by Thomas H. Cook are the first that
come to mind. Both of these authors were new to me and I will be looking to see what else they wrote.
What book is at the top of your To Be Read list?
What is one of your listed books that's a sleeper?
What is one of your favorite things to do besides reading?
I love to travel and see all of the U.S.
What is one of the most exciting things you've ever done?
My husband won a radio station contest, which was a 3 day trip to Nashville and
a chance to break Jack Daniels safe and win $100,000. He didn't win the money, but we had a very nice, all expenses paid vacation with the DJ and his
wife.
What is something interesting about you that few (if any) people know?
I think everyone knows that I am a nanny, but few people know that I worked for 3 NHL players, one of
whom was married to Candace Cameron, from Full House.
What is one of the most insightful lessons you've learned in your life?
Probably that there is no such thing as "normal" and not to judge other people who I think are different
than me.
What is one aspect of FR that you're particularly fond of and why?
I love meeting and getting to know all of the members. I love the fact that FR continues to grow and
change in response to our suggestions. FR is the best!
Featured Feature The browse and search features on the Books page are so rich that members frequently need help with them. In this edition we highlight browse and search
features related to the Available Copies option. Read on and learn how to be more effective in finding the books you want
to request.
-
The Available Copies box defaults to checked. Thus, by default only books that you
can request will be displayed when browsing and searching. We suggest that you first browse or search with the Available Copies box checked. If you
find the book you want, click the Details button and then the Request button to request it.
-
Members
with a Standard account will notice that books listed within the past 2 days are not displayed. These members can
request books only after they have been listed for 48 or more hours. However, Standard accounts are
automatically upgraded to Premium for a free trial period when 2 shipped books are marked received.
-
If you
cannot find an available copy of the book you want, uncheck the Available Copies box and browse or search for it. With Available Copies unchecked, both available and unavailable books are displayed. Available books have a
green flag displayed in the Avail column. When you find the book you want, click the Wish List button to add it to your wish
list.
-
If you cannot find a book with Available Copies unchecked, then leave Available Copies unchecked and
check the Unlisted Books box and enter a title, author or ISBN and click Search. An Unlisted Books search locates books
outside of FR. If the book is found, click the Wish List button to add it to your wish list.
Browsing and searching FR for books is a fun activity, especially when you find an available book that interests you. The above tips
will help you find your book gems sooner!
Spread the good news about FR to your family, friends and online buddies and earn a FREE credit when they sign up! Use the Tell A Friend page to send them an email with a link that automatically populates your nickname in
the referrer field, ensuring your free credit will be awarded. What would you like to see in the next edition of The Frugal
Reader?
