December, 2007
See what special gift Santa has for you this Christmas . . .
No matter where you are in
the world, Christmas is just around the corner. Preparations are being made
for a luscious feast with friends and family, holiday plans are being made, and
Christmas tree lights that are shining so bright, satellites reflect their
glow!
Well here at the Peterson
Portable Sawmills HQ we don't have time for all that. We have mills to build,
people to call and emails to send. As you can see by the picture, we don't even
have a proper Christmas tree because the real one was used as a test subject for
our last custom made sawmill!
But don't worry, we won't
miss out on the festivities altogether. The CEO's have told us we can have a
few weeks off over the Christmas and New Year period. So as we do every year,
Peterson's HQ will close from December 20 - January 14 (with a skeleton crew
returning on January 7). If you need to speak to someone urgently during this
time, you can still call the numbers on our Contact web
page, or
email lrobinson@petersonsawmills.com.
If you are planning to purchase your
sawmill soon, click here to send Santa's Sawmill Workshop
an email,
tell Santa's Elves what mill model you are interested in and
Team Elf will write back and let you know what special gift
Santa has for you!
From all the Peterson staff
and family in Rotorua New Zealand, we wish you a very happy, safe and fun
holiday season. See you in 2008!

Article: Timber Treasure of the Deep
It's another cold, dark, still and deathly quiet day at the bottom of Oosta Lake, it has been like this for
decades since the hydro dam was finished and the lake created by flooding the valley and its forest.
But not for much longer. For this is the day that the submerged spruce trees meet the Sawfish - a machine that could be straight out of the pages of
Jules Verne.
The box-like yellow submarine glides in the from the gloom and grapples a tree. It attaches an airbag and inflates it, then saws the stem off about
70cm above the lake bed, leaving it to float up to the mother ship on the surface.

Photo of the Month . .
.
This month we have a photo that was sent in by our Agent in Peru, Alex Chiu from Chiu Hermanos. It was taken at
a
recent show that they went to in Ucayali. The model standing next to our 10" WPF is Karla Del Aguila "she's part of our team,"
Alex
says. Visit the Photo of the Month
page.
Miller Profile . . .
The end of year Miller Profile is Jimmy Edwards from Mississippi, USA.
Jimmy owns a 8" WPF which he used to mill up logs when Hurricane Katrina hit the southern coast of the USA. Read his Miller Profile.

Site of the Month . . .
When looking for a Site of the Month with a Christmas theme for the kids
this
year, we were overwhelmed by all the flashy sites with shopping carts,
'discount' deals, and all the common stuff you'll find in a department store.
So when we came across santa-at-home.com we were very excited. In this site
you will find recipes, pictures to print and colour, instructions on how to make
lovely simple crafts and you can even write a letter to Santa - he responds to
every one! Santa-at-home.com is all about giving, not selling, so it has won
our hearts as the Site of the Month for December 2007. Click here to visit
www.santa-at-home.com.
