We have an invitation to the "Town Hall" meeting being held at King Street Intermediate School, and other important items for your information. In the meantime,  enjoy the start of summer!

I recently proposed to the Common Council an exciting idea to help some seniors with their property taxes while volunteering their time with various city agencies and non-profit organizations. The SAVE program will connect seniors with jobs throughout the City for a tax credit of up to $600.00 off of next years property taxes. The program will be administrated by the Volunteer Center serving Western Connecticut.

The proposal will likely be approved by the Common Council in the summer and will take effect in the fall. The age for participants to take part is 65 and the income limits are $52,500 for singles and $59,200 if you're married.

Many older residents on fixed incomes find it difficult to keep and maintain their homes as costs mount but incomes remain static. I know seniors enjoy living in Danbury and I want to help keep them there. The SAVE program for qualifying seniors will help make that happen Please look for more information in the near future at the Senior Center (797-4686),The Volunteer Center (797-1145) or the Mayor's Office at 797-4511.
