Meet Our New Programs & Services Director

Barbara Butzer has joined the FOOD for Lane County staff as our new Director of Programs & Services. Butzer comes to FOOD for Lane County from Northwest Portland Ministries, a nonprofit interfaith coalition that provides services to seniors and people with disabilities, where she was executive director. 

 

"I'm looking forward to the challenges and opportunities of my new position at FOOD for Lane County," said Butzer. "I’ve already learned that I am working with a team of talented and highly-dedicated professionals, as well as with dozens of volunteers who give straight from their hearts."

Healthy Kids Learn Better

Many Lane County families who rely on free and reduced-priced lunches during the school year cannot afford to provide consistent, healthy meals for their children when school is out. When money is tight, meals are often the first thing to go.

 

Of the 76,000 children living in Lane County, almost 29,000 live in poverty. This summer, FOOD for Lane County's Summer Food Program provided more than 127,000 meals to Lane County children, helping to fill the meal gap while school was out.

Give a Gift that Changes Lives

This holiday, give a different kind of gift. Remember a friend, relative, co-worker or special occasion by making a donation to FOOD for Lane County. Gift Cards are available in any amount (minimum $10) and can be purchased online or by phone at (541) 343-2822.

 

Down to Earth Donates 5% of Sales to FFLC on Nov. 12

On Sunday, Nov. 12, Down to Earth Home Garden & Gift stores in Eugene will donate 5% of all sales to FOOD for Lane County. Stop by Down to Earth at 532 Olive or 2498 Willamette on Sunday, Nov. 12, to visit with FOOD for Lane County staff and shop for hunger relief.

 

SCAN is Now at Ray's Food Place  

SCAN-a-Coupon is now available at Ray's Food Place stores in Creswell, Cottage Grove, Pleasant Hill, Oakridge and Veneta. Money raised at these stores will go directly to the emergency food pantries that serve these rural communities. SCAN-a-Coupon is also available at these local businesses.

 

The Postal Food Drive is December 2 and 9

Cans for Carriers Who Care is the first two Saturdays in December. Just place a donation of nonperishable food by your mailbox. Your letter carrier will pick it up and deliver it to FOOD for Lane County or your local food pantry for distribution to Lane County families in need. We Need Your Help

Our meeting room at 770 Bailey Hill Road in Eugene is used by many community groups, our network partners, for volunteer projects and for numerous board, committee and staff meetings. It's a busy place where important work happens, and we need your help to make it a better place to do business. We are looking for donations of funds to help purchase furnishings to make the room more flexible for its many uses.
