Two Upcoming Wine Events

We have a couple exciting wine events to tell you about!

We're resuming our casual (and affordable!) tastings at Marche with an array of really cool wines from Chile. With the euro/dollar conundrum making European value wines harder and harder to come by, Chile is now one of the best places to find value wine that doesn't taste like value wine. They've been producing wine since the 16th century, and the wines express a unique terroir that always seems incredibly fresh and verdant: a kind of wild elegance. Light hors d'oeuvres will be served as well.

Equally exciting is an Italian wine dinner to be held at City House restaurant! It's a first for both of us, and we couldn't be more psyched about the venue, the wines, and of course, the food. Not your standard pasta-and-red-sauce-plus-chianti type affair, we'll be focusing on the food and wine of the Friuli region, in Italy's Northeast. The dinner will consist of three courses, each with various components and paired wines (6 total + a grappa shot!). We hope you'll join us!

First Course (served with Fantinel Prosecco, Borgo M Tocai, and Movia Ribolla)

-- Jota: traditional soup of Friuli

-- House cured ham, horseradish, local greens

-- Montasio cheese, potato, onion frico

Second Course (served with Vespa Bianco, Brandolini Refosco, and Brandolini Vistorta)

-- Anson Mills polenta, braised rabbit

-- Potato gnocchi, speck, parsley, brown butter

-- Warm salad of smoked trout

Third Course (served with grappa)

-- Gubana - fruit and nut-stuffed bread

Friuli Wine Dinner

Monday February 4 @ City House (1222 4th Ave North in Germantown)

6:30 pm

$63

Call or email City House to reserve your spot (615-736-5838)

More 6 for $60

Last week we introduced a box of 6 different wines for $60 (which would normally retail for $70). They were so popular that we sold out in less than 24 hours! Now they are restocked and the same six wines are featured. This first collection spans California, Argentina and Spain. Some grapes will be familiar, others may not be. We think it's a great mixture featuring something for every casual occasion, and at a great price. Included are:

- Kenwood Cabernet Sauvignon -

- Cycles Gladiator Syrah -

 - Lancatay Malbec -

- Colonia Las Liebres Bonarda -

- Sola Fred Carignan -

- Tikalo Rubens Tempranillo -
