Welcome to Downtown Centralia, !

Though we don't have beard growing contests here anymore, we are still a bunch of folks that know how to organize and have a great time doing it!  If you've received this newsletter (our very first!) you must be someone special.  You've gotten this because you are a fan of, and are passionate about our downtown.

Just like the folks you see standing in front of the Mason's Building on North Pearl Street during a Pioneer Days of years past; we are just as happy to be able to introduce you to the Centralia Downtown Association Newsletter list.  Many of you have been receiving information (in a much simpler format) from us for the past few months.  Now that we are a bona fide non-profit association with a dandy 2008 Work Plan in hand, we are ready to take on some members.  We are geared up and heading toward our goal:  becoming a certifed Main Street Community!

Our membership plan is designed for merchants, building owners, other organizations and those who just want to support our efforts.  The cost to building owners is a little higher due to the value added as a result of the specific benefits that only property owners can access.  The CDA can assist historic building owners with facade improvement grant advisement and application support, one on one development of renovation design, and access to incentive programs that put dollars back into the pockets of the owners that commit to restoration.  After all, it is the historic building owners and their investments that create a beautiful downtown that draws new shops and customers!

The merchants benefits include participating in events and promotions that are affordable due to collective and affordable marketing; having a voice and vote with the leadership of our association, web link from the CDA website to your merchant site, access to small business resources and the reward of being involved in business that thrives as a result of being located in a dynamic, community driven, historic downtown!

GENERAL MEETING

 

Our first 2008 General Meeting will be held in the beautiful Liberty Theater (Destiny Christian Center) located at the corner of Tower Avenue and Center Street; 419 N. Tower.  The meeting will begin at 6:30pm and finish before 8:30.  There will be light refreshments and there is parking behind the theater.

 

We will be introducing the Board of Directors (aka Super Volunteers) and the committees that they lead with information for those who wish to participate.  Our 2008 Work Plan will be discussed, so, those who want to get involved will have plenty of opportunities to volunteer and get the CDA off to a great start this year.  We will also be opening the floor for public comments and discussion about all things downtown.  Please mark your calendars and plan to attend!
