When members of the 1967 Red Sox gathered in their clubhouse during the pennant race to discuss how to break up the bonus that would come their way with a World Series berth, they decided to vote a full share - about $5,500 - to someone who hadn't had a single at-bat for the club all season: a kid named Jimmy. Young cancer survivor circles the bases at Fenway

Jordan Leandre first sang the National Anthem at Fenway as a 4-year-old who was in a body cast due to the Ewing's sarcoma in his leg. His performance led to an appearance in the movie, "Fever Pitch" and was the first of many return engagements at Fenway. This year, Leandre not only walked out to sing the "Star Spangled Banner," he then ran around the bases to the delight of the crowd. View the video

Wife of Red Sox hero has her own young fans in Jimmy Fund Clinic

A hospital is the last place you'd expect a kid would want to be on a Wednesday morning. The medical procedures, of course, are not enjoyable, but the activities they enjoy during their "down time" in the clinic's playroom are a blast thanks in large part to one person - activities assistant Rosemary Lonborg. As one of six senior dietitians who supervise the nutrition needs of patients during and after their treatment at Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center (DF/BWCC), Tara Mardigan, MS, MPH, RD, delivers care as part of a team.
