2007 Fair Deemed a Success

For the sixth year in a row, the Iowa State Fair is expected to break the one million mark in attendance.  The unaudited attendance estimates indicate 1,003,210 Fairgoers enjoyed 11-days of Fair fun. Final audited attendance figures will be released soon.

New attractions this year included the Paul R. Knapp Animal Learning Center, Elwell Family Food Center, the newly renovated Ralph H. Deets Historical Museum and expanded Blue Ribbon Kids' Club activities.

Information about the 2007 Fair will be available on the Fair's website through October 1.

“U GOTTA LOVE IT” – 2008 IOWA STATE FAIR SET AUGUST 7-17

Excitement is already building for the 2008 Fair, which runs August 7-17 with the theme “U Gotta Love It”.

The colorful logo, designed by Trilix Marketing Group of Urbandale, features bold graphics in purple, bright green and red. “U Gotta Love It” celebrates the passion Fairgoers have for the state’s great Fair and all the traditions they look forward to each year, including food, fun, free entertainment, competition, livestock and people watching.

Fairgrounds 5K

Work off that last corndog while helping raise money for the Iowa State Fairgrounds! The first Fairgrounds 5K Fun Run/Walk will take place on Saturday, November 3, at 10 a.m. on the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Runners, joggers and walkers alike will have the opportunity to experience the Iowa State Fairgrounds’ park-like setting without the hustle and bustle of the Fair. The route will highlight the essentials, Grand Avenue, Rock Island and the Campgrounds, and take participants through a scenic perspective of the Fairgrounds. For more information on the Fairgrounds 5K, visit www.blueribbonfoundation.org/fairgrounds5k.html.
