What's New at Car Talk Plaza?
Our new lousy web site, that's what!
No kidding! There's a new cartalk.com coming soon, and we've got a sneak preview for our loyal Time Kill Weekly readers. But it comes with a catch. (More on that in a sec.)
We figured, after a
number of years, it's always a good idea to update things. If you don't, you end up looking like, well... Tommy. And, for those of us at
Car Talk Plaza, that is one truly horrifying thought.
So, we've taken our lousy little site, and introduced a few "Web 2.0" type innovations, like
- Collapsible menus, courtesy of our pals at cars.com.
- Cleaner design, with less text and improved hierarchy.
- Better positioning, with the things you've asked for front and center -- like our Car
Talk Community, and the weekly radio show.
However, we're not launching the new site just quite yet.
Why? Because we need a favor.
We need you to help us look for those inevitable, and annoying, little glitches that sneak into every new design, no matter how hard our eagle-eyed
lackeys look.
Specifically, we'd like to know such things as
- Are any links broken?
- Do all the forms work for you?
- Do any pages look a little, well, different? (And not in a good way, if you know what we
mean.)
- Does anything else not seem quite right to you?
Take a look. Let us know what needs our attention. Be sure to send us the exact URL of the page you're on, and details of what you've found.
Then, drop us a note. We'll be eternally grateful.
With thanks for helping us build a better Car Talk 2.0,
Maury Maille

P.S. Here's this week's Lame Joke of the Week, from Mike Butcher:
A man was just waking up from anesthesia after surgery, and his wife was sitting by his side. His
eyes fluttered open and he said, "You're beautiful." Then he fell asleep again. His wife had never heard him say that before, so she stayed by his
side.
A few minutes later his eyes fluttered open and he said, "You're cute."
The wife was disappointed because instead of "beautiful," it was now "cute." She asked, "What happened to beautiful?"
The man replied, "The drugs are wearing off."

Write Tom and Ray - Please!
Been
meaning to write us a witty,
brilliant, evocative, insightful letter? Excellent! We're not getting
any of those things from the chumps hanging around Car Talk Plaza. For
that
matter, we'd settle for anything better than the usual schlock Tommy
reads on the air.
