playa la lancha HAPPY EARTH DAY! This month's newsletter is in honor of our one and only beautiful planet that we are able to appreciate each day in Punta de Mita.  Whether your time here entails a sailing trip out to the Marieta Islands, whale watching, beach lounging, jungle hiking, mountain biking, surfing, or simply gazing out over the Pacific and the Sierra Madres, we must not forget that our daily lives are tied to the natural environment that we inhabit.  Enhancing our quality of life goes hand in hand with protecting our environment.
sierra madre jungle The Punta de Mita Foundation is striving to promote sustainable development and smart growth.  Currently we are working on producing a first-ever Sustainable Development Report for the region.  This extensive report will give information regarding water, land, biodiversity, population growth, and critical development plans in and around Punta de Mita. Our goal is for this to be the first of many initiatives that will help our region grow economically and culturally while being conscious of our ecological footprint and conserving the local natural resources.  Please keep in touch and look for the published report by late this summer.

Lastly we would like to applaud the local non-profits P.E.A.C.E. and Entre Amigos for their amazing efforts in environmental education.  We believe education is the way to a brighter future and we look forward to working with both organizations.  Please enjoy Earth Day and make a positive contribution to your community and environment by reducing, reusing and recycling!
