Turkey Time is Riesling Time
You're probably still thinking, "What do I do with all these 'fun size'
butterfingers??!!" But we're already thinking about turkey. It's largely because we just got in some amazing new Rieslings from Germany. They
are the perfect accompaniment to turkey as well as many other foods. In fact, we decided to have a little Thai dinner and taste a few of
them - it was like magic. No other wine could have paired so well, balanced the spices, enhanced the exotic yet savory flavors so
effortlessly . . .
The three Rieslings we tried are all quite unique: one is rich, one
is more tart, and one is somewhere in the middle. To encourage you to hold your own "Thai + Riesling" extravaganza, we are offering a deal: Try all 3
for $10 off the combined price ($63). Totally worth it - world class wines from small producers on single vineyard sites. We can't stress it enough:
the wine experts of the world pretty much unanimously declare Riesling as one of, if not THE, world's greatest grapes.
2006 Karlsmuhle Kaseler Nies'chen Riesling Kabinett - $25
Pink lemonade with a generous body and softly encroaching layers
awash with slatey minerality, baked pear and a touch of cassis and cinnamon.
2006 Kruger-Rumpf Munsterer Rheinberg Riesling Kabinett -
$23
Golden Delicious & Fuji apples in spades, with touches of lime; the
lightest and sprightliest of the three. Hints at the richer on the finish: yellow roses and vanilla.
2005 J & H.A. Strub Niersteiner Paterberg Riesling Spatlese -
$25
The richest of the three: but a richness that you never feel gluttenous
about. Golden, with the signature mineral smell you get from the best Rieslings. Rich baked apples, balanced with glistening acidity and a touch of
lemon/lime accent, with a reverberating finsh.
