February 2007     Dear Summer Staff Alumni,   What are your plans for summer 2007? We have a great idea!   Summer staffers were recently surveyed and asked if they would consider volunteering again at a Young Life camp. More than 85 percent said “in a heartbeat!” Your reasons included: the rewards of serving the Lord; loving and serving others; the joy of friendship and camaraderie; the freedom to be yourself and discovering your future career calling. And, the T-shirts are cool too!   There aren’t many places like a month at Young Life camp where you can serve Christ, grow in your own faith, influence the lives of campers and build relationships with your peers that will last a lifetime. So many people look back at this as one of the most formative experiences of their lives.    Of course, you already know that from your experience! So, we’ve got three things we’d like you to consider:   How about doing summer staff again? We’d love to have you back and we promise that you’ll learn new things (and impact more kids) each time you’re with us. In case you need a refresher course, the summer staff application process is explained on the Young Life Web Site. Plus, there is a three-minute video you may want to download and check out to get more information. You can even apply online, right now! You know people we don’t know! Maybe this summer isn’t going to work for you. Or, maybe it is and, you’ve got a friend you’d love to bring along. Either way, we need your help. Flip through your address book and cruise your friends list on facebook; think about who could benefit from an experience like you had and forward this e-mail to them. Your friends could thank you for the rest of their lives. Need to make some money this summer? We know summer staff doesn’t pay very well (but, again, the T-shirts are awesome). If you are looking to grow in Christ, experience Young Life-style discipleship and make a few bucks this summer, take a minute to check out Discipleship Focus. It is a great opportunity to go deeper in your faith, experience amazing fellowship and work in the fun environment of Silver Dollar City or Dollywood.   So, get out those summer staff pictures again and remember all the reasons you decided to volunteer the first time.
