A Message from the President
Stephen M. Bliss
Brigadier General, United States Army (Retired)
Many thanks to all of our parents and grandparents for their strong support during
Grandparents Weekend. Our Administrators, Staff and Faculty appreciated your participation in the many, varied events. I am certain you were proud
of your cadets who were at their best, especially during the Grand March, Military Ball and parade. It was certainly a rewarding time for us
all.
During the course of the weekend, a new slate of officers was elected to serve you as the 08-09 ANA
Parents Association team. Congratulations are in order for incoming President Connie Travis, Vice President Elta Wilson and Secretary Tracey Rose. In
addition, outgoing President Beth Zoschak was elected Treasurer. Our thanks to these parents for being willing to serve.
Our weekend could not have been successful without the efforts of many on the staff and faculty who
pitched in to make the arrangements. In particular, Veronica Parker-Davis who had the lead in putting together another beautifully decorated
Military Ball. Ashley Roy, Susie Smith and Nicole Knight supported campus tours for grandparents, parent meetings with Jack Wyatt and me, and Casino
Night organized by Beth Zoschak and this year's ANAPA leadership team. Sylvia Vasquez was also instrumental scheduling parent-teacher conferences
despite significant personal challenges, and Jeff Bovee again put his cooking and catering talents to great use.
As we close in on graduation, I would like you all to know we are totally focused on having the
cadet’s finish strong, both in the classroom and in their other campus activities. There is much to be accomplished before the years end. We
have a new cadet leadership team to appoint, final exams to be completed and a fitting celebration to be held honoring our graduating seniors who have
done so much to add to the 98 year history of the Academy.
Thanks to all of you for supporting the Academy and your cadets during the 2007-2008 school
year. Although it has been a year filled with challenges, it has also been filled with many rewards. Seeing your cadets
mature into responsible young men with the support of their families and friends is what makes working at the Academy such a special experience for
all of us.
We all look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at our 98th
graduation of the 8th and 12th grade classes on May 31st.
Best Regards,
Steve Bliss

The spring season is fast coming to a close with final games, meets and matches
ending the regular season. League finals and CIF competitions will finish up our athletics for the 2007-2008 school year. This year has had many
exciting games and awards.
The Athletic department would like to thank the coaches, faculty, staff,
administration, the cadets and most importantly the families that have contributed to ANA's success this year.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our recent surveys on
Grandparents Weekend and Communications. We had our highest response to date on the
Grandparents Weekend survey, with 77 of you taking the time to fill out our 10 question survey.
Thank you to all who participated, your responses have been passed along to
the appropriate departments!
Although this response rate is higher than usual, it is still fairly low in
comparison to the amount of parents and guardians we have in our ANA family. Remember, these surveys are an excellent way for
parents to voice opinions and allow of us here at the Academy to put forth the necesary changes! Please consider helping us to help make the Academy a stronger institution that will provide your son with an unforgettable middle and high
school experience!
The Communications Survey has been
extended for those of you that have not had time to respond to it. The new closing date for this survey is Wednesday, May
7th.
If you have not already, plase take a moment to complete the Communications
Survey Now!
THERE IS STILL TIME...
There is still time to make your donation to the Parents
Fund. The Advancement department's goal this year is 100% participation by Academy parents. Your gift, big or small, will
help each and every cadet.
Our current parent participation rate is 20%
