Pro Cure Consulting, Inc. and Rock-Pond to provide Product Analysis Service

Improving the profitability of your business can be a tricky thing in today’s health care environment.  With the option to raise prices out of the question in most cases, providers need to look for ways to reduce costs and expand into profitable markets.  The ability to analyze your drug data by payer, physician and referral source can be the key to identifying trends and opportunities.  Rock-Pond is working with Pro Cure Consulting, Inc. to develop a Product Analyzer tool that will provide detailed analysis of drug dispensing data as well as provide comparative analysis against a top 100 infusion drugs database maintained by Pro Cure.  Pro Cure will offer this as a service to home infusion providers beginning in August 2007.

Provider Turns to Rock-Pond Solutions to Integrate with Oracle Financials

Home Infusion Software does a great job of capturing the clinical and financial data needed to service patients and get reimbursed for the services from the payer.  They also capture the product costs associated with business operations to help you measure profitability.  However, to get a more complete view of your business, you need to transfer this data to your back end financial systems that incorporate all of your income, expenses, liabilities, assets and equity. 

 

Recently a multi-site infusion provider turned to Rock-Pond Solutions to provide an automated process to calculate G/L journal and create a G/L export file to automatically transfer them to a back-end Oracle financial system.  Using system configuration features within CPR+ and the power of Crystal Reports to extract the data and format into an export file, G/L entries at the company, service and program level were provided for unbilled A/R, revenue, cost of goods, cash receipts, adjustments and unapplied cash.  Now that takes a lot of calculation and manual entry out of every month end process!   View Sample Export File.

Understanding Case Mix is critical to managing a home infusion company 

 

Every business has key indicators that gauge how business is going.  In home infusion therapy, payer type, therapy type and referral source are on the top of this list.  If you keep your "thumb" on the type of services you are providing, where they are coming from and who is paying for them you'll have fewer surprises.  It's important to get immediate feedback when your case mix changes or if your intake / clinical staff are not promptly discharging orders and patients.

Enteral Practice Standards

Can anyone share their practices regarding enteral therapy? Specifically, I have 2 questions: 1. For bolus feeders, how many catheter tip syringes do you dispense, one per week, one per day or something different? 2. How do you handle patients who insist on washing out pump sets or gravity sets to use them for multiple days even though the manufacturer recommends a daily change? Do you charge a per diem for every day they are on service or only for the number of sets you send?
