The Center will host a workshop on the administration
of the NYSESLAT. The primary audience for this workshop are those charter schools that will be administering the test in April. The presenters
will be Dr. Gail M. Slater and Dr. Rosa Maria Leon, both from the NYS Spanish BETAC at NYU Steinhardt. The Center will also host training on the
effective administration of the Home Language Survey and LAB-R in mid-April. (We will announce the date and time later this month.) The purpose of
this training is to build and refine the capacity of charter school staff to identify accurately those students who might be in need of English
Language Learner support.
The Center staff is very excited about this because we
are on our way to making the support of ELLs a key component of our work here at the Center.
