Nicky working hard
January, 2007

A note from Nicky . . .

I only started here at Petersons as the Shows and Promotions Administrator in July last year, so the schedules were already in place, planning had begun and I found myself in the middle of a roller coaster ride, holding on for dear life.  I must admit that at times it was a little crazy, trying to learn on the job and not knowing which show was in which state, but at Petersons there is always someone to help you when you need it!  For those of you millers that I have called asking for help, I would like to say a big thank you too for being so laid back and understanding... it has been greatly appreciated.

The past year has been a hectic one for those involved with exhibiting at shows and performing live demonstrations for customers.  We have had a presence at many shows across the world and have had many successes with these.  Just recently we finished our South Island Roadshow, which saw two of our staff battling our unseasonable weather to proudly show our Skillmill to potential customers.

With the New Year fast approaching, planning is underway for the next stint of roadshows across the globe.  We are planning on attending shows in the US, Australia and New Zealand, with a select few in Europe, Canada, and South America as well.  If you know of any shows in your region, please drop me a line, I am always interested in any new shows for Petersons to attend.

Come and see us at a show near you and keep an eye on our show schedule on the website for further info.

Cheers

Article: Planning - The Road to Success. . .

Vision and mission statements, strategic planning, and business planning may sound more like Wall Street or Madison Avenue lingo than terms tree farmers should be concerned with. While it's true the "big boys" have well-crafted vision and mission statements, detailed strategic plans, and spend millions of dollars on market development, there are certain aspects of planning that apply to tree farmers (and all businesses for that matter) of all sizes. Bryan and Carl testing the mil.

Photo of the Month and Miller Profile

Last month Peterson headquarters got an interesting visit from Bryan Anderson who wanted his 1993 Production Frame with a 090 Stihl motor, serviced by Carl. His mill was in good condition for being 13 years old, powering through the pine log we had to test it on. Read the Photo of the Month.

You can also find out more about Bryan's operation in his Miller Profile.

New Release . . .

This month we have the release of the Peterson Owners' Stories page, to follow on from last month's release of the new Photo Gallery.

Since we have been getting great stories from our millers, we wanted to publish their work on our website to show everyone what they are getting up to. There are owners from all around the globe, doing awesome things with their Peterson Sawmill, from making valuable furniture to doing home renovations. Read their stories
