Hello
Wow what a busy month we've just had!
While half of the staff were at the NZ Fieldays, and the other half making sure the phones were answered
and the mills
were built and sent out, our Multimedia Department was busy filming and producing new short videos for you to watch.
The first of our short videos has been put together about the Peterson Board Remover, a great feature on
our Automated
Swingblade Mill (ASM). The Board Remover removes the previously sawn board while milling the next board and gives the operator the choice as to which
end of the mill to remove the board. Very handy for a one man operation.
We wanted to know how much weight the Board
Remover could push, so to test it's strength, we decided to mill an 8x8" board,
6m long. Not knowing if we were going to have to pick this massive board off
the log ourselves or not, we proceeded to finish our experiment and used the
board remover - and it pushed the board off with ease! Curious to know how heavy
this board actually was, we went and weighed it at the local freight depot.
Much to our astonishment it weighed in at a massive 488.88 lbs (220 kg). To see
the Peterson Board Remover in action click here.
The second of our short videos has been put
together to explain how easy it is to sharpen our circular sawmill blades. With our
modified bracket and sharpening tool called the 'Sharpboy', there is no need to
take the blade off the mill. It is efficient and easy to use, you can have your blade
sharpened in less then 5 minutes. Simply
click here to see how easy it really
is.
Since last month, our team here at Petersons
have been inundated with enquiries. This may be due to the eight or so shows in
the last month that our mills were exhibited at around the world, one of which
was the NZ Fieldays at Mystery Creek. The NZ Fieldays is the biggest show in
the Southern Hemisphere and is steadily growing bigger and bigger as each year
comes. This year was no exception. The show was a huge success, with a record
number of people flooding through the gates reaching over 130,000.
This month, we will be exhibiting our
sawmills at many more shows around the world. Check out our frequently updated show
schedule, you never know, we may be at a show near you. We will also be working
on even more videos about our range of mills and their features for you to
check out, so watch this space for the
latest videos coming to our website
soon.
We hope you enjoy this issue of 'Cutting
Comments', we'll see you again in August!

Article: When the going gets tough - Peterson sawmills get going .
. .
A community training center and teachers' residence is slowly taking shape in
the remote Ramu and Keram River area of Papua New Guinea. Surrounded by forest,
blanketed in heat, and two days' travel - one by road and one by canoe - from
the nearest town of Madang, this environment is a tough one at the best of
times.
But for Manis Aver and other training centre staff, this is home. He is working
on the Gandep Training Centre, a project that will potentially provide for 200
communities and 3000 people. Read more . . .

YouTube has changed the way we
use the internet. Before the launch of YouTube in 2005, there were few simple
methods available for ordinary computer users who wanted to post videos online.
With its easy to use interface, YouTube made it possible for anyone who could
use a computer, to post a video that millions of people could watch within a few
minutes. The wide range of topics covered by YouTube has turned video sharing
into one of the most important parts of Internet culture.
Here at Petersons we also use YouTube to broadcast our videos across the
world. We think it's a great way for you to see and compare the different products right from your
computer.
