Wells Writes

A Creative Writing Coffee House

On November 23 at 7pm, Island Mountain Arts will host the Wells Writes Creative Writing Coffee House at the Wells Community Hall (in conjunction with the Community diner).  This is an excellent event in which  Wells / Barkerville  School children get a chance to share their creative writing and poetry with the community.  Afterwords, anyone in attendance is welcome to share a piece of their own writing.  (Submissions should be presented to an IMA staff member prior to the reading.)

This is a great event for kids and adults alike, whether you're an aspiring writer or just enjoy hearing a good story told!

Wells Works and Arts Fest
Exhibit Opening and Coffee House

December 16, 2006 at 7:00 pm

The next show to be featured in the IMA Public Gallery, Wells Works and Arts Fest will feature an exciting combination of local and regional art.

Wells Works is a collection of art works and crafts by some of the talented artists living in the Wells area.  This exhibit will feature some familiar

names such as Joan Beck, Claire Kujundzic and Bill Horne, as well as some artists new to the area such as Jessica Demers, Ting Yuen, Paul Morel and Lindsay Read.  This should prove to be a very interesting and eclectic show featuring different genres of art.

Arts Fest will feature paintings by Cariboo artists which have been selected from a juried art show that took place in Mackenzie earlier this year.

This is a show not to be missed!  Come and experience the wealth of talent that Wells and the Cariboo region have to hold!

Ring In The New Year With
Island Mountain Arts and

Mamaguroove!

Island Mountain Arts is very excited to announce that they will be hosting this year's New Year's Eve Dance at the historic Wells Community Hall.    Mamaguroove, northern B.C.'s favorite funky dance band will be in full swing, rockin' the hall as always.  This quintet from the Robson Valley will enthrall you with their lively 'Mountain Eclectic Funk' and energetic stage antics.  Mamaguroove's tribal rhythms and high energy stage show combined with strikingly original material and unusual arrangements form an irresistible musical gumbo.  The grand humanity of their colorful stage presence has won them legions of fans (a.k.a. mamaguroopies) on the B.C. festival circuit over the years.

In addition to great music, there will be food and refreshments and of course, the bar.  (More details to come in the next IMA newsletter.)

Tickets will be available from Island Mountain Arts (call 1-800-442-2787 or email info@imarts.com) or from Studio 2880 in Prince George and will be $25 for adults, $10 for youth (ages 13-18) and children under 12 get in free.

This is a great even to bring the whole family out to!  So come on out and dance the night away!
