Get Ready to Jive with GENny!
The second annual fundraising gala, The GENaustin Jive, is just around the corner. Don't miss your chance to join the fun and celebrate 11 years of
GENaustin programs. The inaugural Jive brought in almost $100,000!
This year's event will be a night of fine cuisine and music, with 70s hits performed by Skyrocket! (formerly
the K-Tel Hit Machine). Guests are invited to break out their bell-bottoms and polyester and boogie the night away. Also, there will be a silent
auction with many groovy items. The bar will be serving up our signature drink, the Lava Lamp Martini, featuring Tito's Vodka.
The 2007 Jive will be held May 3 at One World Theatre. Tables and individual tickets are still
available at http://www.genaustin.org/.

Calling All Volunteers
clubGEN recruitment for the 2007-2008 school year has begun, and we need enthusiastic volunteers to visit AISD middle
schools. Recruiters will be on the campuses for lunch every weekday until April 13. Hours vary between 10:50 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and
even one day of service would be appreciated. As a Recruitment Specialist, you will get a chance to talk to girls about clubGEN and encourage
them to signup. If you can help out, please send an email to christine@genaustin.org with "clubGEN
Recruitment Specialist" in the subject line.
Girl Talk Encourages Girls to Become Leaders

and our other programs for girls. On Saturday, March 17, RajiWorld+1 hosted
a
concert and party at Big Red Sun benefiting GENaustin. The event featured sets by The Mother Truckers, Adam Caroll, Hacienda Brothers and Skyrocket!,

April Workshop Helps Adults Understand Girl Bullying
The final installment of our spring workshop series for adults will focus on the issue of relational aggression. Statistics show that bullying
is on the rise in the adolescent girl population:
- Each day, 16,000 children in the United States stay home from school because they are afraid they will be tormented by their
classmates
- Over the past five years, the rate of aggravated assault has increased 56% among girls under 18, but it has decreased 5% among
boys.
The workshop will be held at the Dougherty Arts Center on Thursday, April 26 from 6:30-8 p.m. The cost to attend is $35 per person. For more
information and registration, please visit www.genaustin.org.
