April showers bring May flowers.... Well unfortunately April is the height of dry season in Punta de Mita but rainy season is around the corner.  However all our hard work in has blossomed in the form of two new incredible grantees!  The Foundation is happy to announce a grant we have made to Costa Verde International School to start a scholarship program for children of Punta de Mita to attend this incredible new bilingual primary school being built between Punta de Mita and Sayulita.  Please check out their programs at:

In addition we have made another grant to a committee of non-profit leaders who have formed Riviera Recicla.  This cooperative will start up a regional recycling and organic composting program in the various communities within our geographic scope, along the so-called Riviera Nayarit.  The non-profits that are involved include: PEACE in Punta de Mita, Recyclers of Bucerias and Amigos de Bucerias in Bucerias, Entre Amigos and Alianza Jaguar in San Pancho, and Grupo Pro Sayulita in Sayulita.  Please keep a look out in the next month for our recycling containers (plastic, glass, cardboard) throughout the towns.  We would also like to thank the Bahia de Banderas' tourism office for giving us support from the municipality with educational programs that will be conducted in the local schools regarding the value of separating our trash, composting and recycling.  Please contact Punta de Mita Foundation if you would like to get involved, sponsor a recycling container, or help us out with purchasing some of the necessary recycling equipment.

Punta de Mita Foundation would like to announce the formation of its Educational Committee, spearheaded by Greg Stanton.  This committee will tackle important and necessary educational issues in the communities of Punta de Mita.  Our first project will be building three classrooms.  The first of the three is underway in the town of Emiliano Zapata at the Kindergarden.  We hope to complete the construction by the end of the summer and host a community event for painting and equipping the classrooms by the start of next school year.  We will be working in conjunction with the local non-profit PEACE. If you are interested in being part of this committee or volunteering for the community event next fall please contact us.

Lastly, we would like to give another thanks to all those involved in our trash pick-ups along the highway from La Cruz.  The improvement is evident and the streets in town are looking much better.  Additionally GIRSA, the trash collection company, has offered to supply Punta de Mita Foundation with more large trash bins to be placed around town and along the highway at the beach access points.

We wish everyone a great summer season and please feel free to contact us with any questions or comments!
