MUSICIANS

Prudence Johnson
Prudence Johnson’s career has taken her from honky-tonks to Carnegie Hall, from the theater stage to the Silver Screen, from the Midwest to the Middle East. She is a regular guest on Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion, broadcast on National Public Radio stations across the country.

“Prudence Johnson is a quartet ... a jazz singer, a country songbird, a polished ballad interpreter and an urban folkie.”
-- The Cincinnati Enquirer

Lucy Michelle and the
Velvet Lapelles

Michelle and her cohorts have quietly started snowballing one of the Twin Cities’ most diverse and rapidly growing fan bases. With a sound that combines dashes of old-fashioned country, folk, and polka with otherworldly tinges of Gypsy and flamenco, Michelle’s music appeals just as much to the NPR crowd as it does to those of the rock club persuasion.

Kip Peltoniemi
An old-time button accordion player featuring unusual accordion instrumentals, humorous songs, dubious folklore, tall tales, and out-and-out lies. All of Kip’s musical material has been independently tested, grade and certified, achieving an incredible 99.7 % -- or Grade AAA -- ethnicity rating. Kip’s solo album is entitled Minnesota Tango.

Linda Breitag
Lively and varied fiddle music of French Canada, including reels, waltzes, gigues, galopes, and wonderful ‘crooked’ tunes. With her percussive foot-tapping this singer/songwriter paints a picture of the culture surrounding traditional French Canadian music.

The Mamas
Dubbed “urban eclectic folk” with songs ranging from folk and pop to bluegrass, country and gospel. Musicians: Shelley Diment, Ann Fate, Burna Krugler, Rebecca Buller, Priscilla Thomas.
