Launched!
TNCPE starts award cycle with new Web site

Welcome, examiners, to the first newsletter of the 2008 TNCPE program cycle! Returning examiners are sure to notice the newsletter's new look, which was inspired by another new development: a complete overhaul of the TNCPE Web site.

Same address, new features
If you haven't visited yet, take a gander at www.tncpe.org. In addition to a redesign that reflects excellence in Tennessee, we've improved navigation and added some new features, like an online Criteria order form.

Check the home page often, as the burgundy Examiners portal will be frequently updated with important examiner news. Then click it to jump to the examiners' page, where you'll find all the forms and resources you need to complete your job.

Plans are in the works for even more features, including bulletin boards, videos and online program applications.

We love your feedback
We hope you like the new site as much as we do, and we encourage your feedback. If you encounter any opportunities for improvement as you browse, please send an e-mail to Jennifer.Frazier@tncpe.org.

Get on Board...

It's training season

Change is in the air at TNCPE, and 2008 examiner pre-work is no exception. Returning examiners will note that the assignment is a little different this year, reflecting changes to the evaluation process. So whether you're a new or veteran examiner, be sure to read the assignment and instructions carefully when they arrive around the end of May.

Training updates
To accommodate the large number of new examiners in East Tennessee, we've added a new examiner orientation date in the Tri-Cities area: June 4.

New examiners are required to attend a one-day orientation class (full list of dates below), however it is open to any examiners who would like to attend.

If you have not yet signed up for orientation or the three-day training class, or if you would like to change the date you will attend, please contact Will Schoch to reserve a spot:

(800) 453-6474.

Rock On!

Paul Rock marks 15th year as TNCPE examiner

If TNCPE gave out an award for examiner commitment, Paul Rock would be on the short list of finalists. Based in Knoxville, Paul has served on the Board of Examiners for the last 15 years.

He learned about TNCPE (then known as the Tennessee Quality Award) in 1993 through an acquaintance who was recruiting TQA examiners. New to Tennessee and already equipped with quality management experience from his service in the U.S. Army, Paul jumped in. "It seemed to me a good way to further find out what was going on in the community and do something positive," he said.

Paul was among the first examiners trained to implement the TQA process. Today he continues his service with TNCPE while running Quality Management Concepts, a consulting firm that primarily helps companies prepare for ISO registration.

For Paul, TNCPE is about opportunity. "I look for opportunities to provide some service, a way of giving back," he said. "This provides a wonderful outlet for me to use my skills and my knowledge, and to put that into the community."

Paul also believes TNCPE provides an opportunity for the state, encouraging economic development and competitiveness.

Finally, "for me, and for most people, it's a tremendous professional development opportunity," said Rock. "It's a tremendous learning experience, and gosh, you can't beat the price."
