WIZ WORDS
by Jeanne Forbes
This is an exciting time to line in Wichita if you like to bike. It has been a slow progress but there are more bike activities and safe places to ride then ever before.
The Prairie Travelers group opened up a mile section of Prairie Sunset Rails to Trails by Garden Plain two years ago. In August 2009 the whole 8-mile trail from Goddard to Garden Plain was opened. This is a limestone surface trail that is traffic-free. I have ridden it several times and it is a great way to get in touch with nature and not worry about getting hit by a car. Prairie Travelers continue to work on establishing more rails to trails in the area.

You should have received a brochure for the Wicked Wind; if not there should be one in this newsletter. Bring a friend to the ride. This year Lake Afton will be the starting point for the Wicked Wind 100 on Sunday, May 16, 2010. Camping is available for a fee. Showers are free, bring your own towel. Parking is free. We will have the standard 25-, 50-, and 100-mile rides. We have a lot of returning volunteers doing SAG stops this year; please thank them during the ride. This year pre-registration guarantees you receive a cool bike bag, if your registration is postmarked by Friday, May 7 th. T-shirts are also available during pre-registration for an additional fee. Wicked Wind brochures are also available in local bicycle shops and on the Oz website. The Wicked Wind 100 is the yearly fundraiser for the Oz Bicycle club, so please sign up to ride or volunteer or both. Volunteer jobs are still open and many can be done prior or after the ride and allowing you to ride. To volunteer or for information contact Cecile Kellenbarger at 316-744-7786 (evening), 316-215-4867 (cell), or e-mail cbkellen@yahoo.com.

News Flash
Bicycle Pedaler will not be carrying Trek Bicycles once we sell out. We have been Trek Dealers for over 25 years and won numerous Trek awards over the years. However, last fall they approached us and asked us to become "platinum dealers," that means over 80% of your stock Trek or Fisher; we kindly turned them down. So now they have informed us that they only want dealers that are platinum level and that leaves us out!
We consider ourselves very fortunate to also carry Specialized, Cannondale & Cervelo. We enjoy having the ability to let customers test ride different brands and see which model and brand best suits their needs. We will continue to do that minus Trek, we see it as their loss. Maybe they aren't up to the challenge . . .
Any individual who has purchased a Trek bicycle from us can still get the service we have vowed to uphold. Most warranties we can still handle, maybe not with Trek's help but we will get you taken care of!
Happy Pedalin,'
