RED HAT DAY PLANNED FOR 2008

The Iowa State Fair will celebrate the Red Hat Society on its opening day, August 7, 2008. Don your red hat and purple outfit and join us at the Iowa State Fair for a day of fun and frivolity.

Bring your chapter and enjoy all the fun-filled Fair activities and meet Red Hatters from all over the Midwest.  In addition to the endless activities included with admission, there will be the first ever Red Hat contest in Pioneer Hall and a chance to meet and mingle with other members in the Fair’s Family Theaters.

Click here for more information about bringing a group to the Fair, or contact Megan Baron at mbaron@iowastatefair.org or 515/262.3111 x335.

CITYVIEW READERS HONOR FAIR

The Des Moines area publication Cityview recently announced their "Best Of" Award winners, as determined by their readers. The Fair was named Best Annual Event, Best Place to People Watch, Best Place to Take Visitors and Best Place to Count Mullets.

FAIR ADVERTISING WINS AWARDS

The Fair took home three Addy Awards for its 2007 advertising. The TV commercial won Best of Class and will advance to the district competition.  The “Sounds Like Fun!” logo and stationary package both won gold awards. Trilix Marketing Group of Urbandale designed all three pieces. The Addys are annually awarded by the American Advertising Federation of Des Moines to honor central Iowa’s best creative work.

CORNDOG CHECKOFF

This year Iowans can express their love for the Fair on their tax returns.   Look for the State Fairgrounds Renovation Checkoff on line 58b of Iowa Tax Form 1040 or on line 14 of Iowa Tax Form 1040A and check off $1 (or more) to help preserve the historic Iowa State Fairgrounds.
