Real Age, Living to be a 100, and The Three Tomatoes Anti-Aging
Experts
If you're like The Three
Tomatoes, you love those dopey "self-help" tests in women's magazines. You know, the ones, like "What's your food
type" (all of them)," "How stressed are you" (totally), and "What's your shopping style" (buy, buy, buy). Okay, so here are a
couple of "self-help' tests that will do more than just help you wile away a few idle moments while you're sitting in a doctor's waiting room, but
could actually help get you focused on feeling good (the natural way, we might add) and not just looking
good.
What's Your Real Age?
We first fell in love with Dr. Michael Roizen and Dr. Mehmet Oz when they appeared on
Oprah after the publication of their best seller "You the Owners Manual" which is an amazingly
informative book about the human body that's actually entertaining and fun to read. Now they have two other "you"
books, "You the Diet" and "You the Smart Patient" the latter of which which
should be mandatory reading for everyone.
Well, they also have a great web site , Real Age , where you can take the "Real Age" test which uses various lifestyles,
genetic and medical factors to calculate your biological-rather than chronological-age. The test takes about 20 minutes to
complete and then they email you your "biological" age and give you suggestions on what you can do to lower that age. Age
reversal! We love this concept. And you can even sign up for the Real Age Tips of the Week email which has all
kinds of healthy advice.
Who wants to be 100?
Well now, that's always an interesting question to ask people. Usually the answers range from "who'd
want to live that long" (to which we always say, well if you're 99 you might) to the "well, if I had all my marbles and my health was good, why
not?" So here's another interesting little web site you can visit, www.livingto100.com. They too have a test but this one gives your life expectancy based
on your answers. And then, like Real Age gives advice on changes you can make to your life style to live
longer. Sounds good to us, as long as we don't have to give up those martinis.
The Three Tomatoes Anti-Aging Experts
Which brings us to our very own anti-aging experts who have graciously agreed to contribute information to us for all our tomato readers.
So we are launching a special section on our web site, called ‘Ask the anti-aging experts". You'll be able to submit questions, or read some great advice from our
contributors.
In previous newsletters, we've introduced you to Laura
Kauffmann, licensed herbalist and acupuncturist (remember our accu-facial?), and Carrie Taylor, CEO of Taylor Techniques which specializes in personal training, fitness,
massage and pain management.
And last week, we met Dr.
Loretta Friedman a clinical nutritionist and "directional non-force" chiropractor. Yes, we asked what you're now thinking,
what the heck is directional, non-force? Well the way Dr. Friedman explained it to us is, it's not the "bone crunching" type
of chiropractic treatment, but a much more gentle treatment that produces the same results. And she is one of only 150
chiropractors in the country who are trained and licensed in this form of treatment. Dr. Friedman has a very
impressive CV. She spent several years as an operating room nurse before attending medical school and becoming a
chiropractor and nutritionist.

To Vitamin or Not to
Vitamin - that is the question. Dr. Loretta Friedman offers some great advice.
Should I exercise my

Does massage offer health
benefits? Carrie Taylor explains the principals of myofascial massage and the benefits.
