Migration: A Gallery

Migration: A Gallery's summer show, "Conscious Clay," features ceramic pieces by Tom Clarkson, Steve Mitchell, and Stanton Hunter.

 

The show explores a wide variety of clay pottery and ceramics ranging from functional to non-functional, portable to site-specific, small to large. Clarkson, Mitchell, and Hunter bring their own unique perspectives to the creation process while all honoring the inherent characteristics of the clay. 

 

Gallery hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 11:00am-6:00pm,

Sunday and Monday by appointment.

Brideshead Revisted

Vinegar Hill Theatre

 

July 31-August 14

 

Vinegar Hill Theatre is currently showing the provocative and suspenseful drama, Brideshead Revisited. The film is an adaptation of a celebrated English novel that tells the story of forbidden love and loss of innocence in the pre-WWII era.

 

Show times are daily at 4:15pm, 7:00pm, and 9:30pm plus Saturday and Sunday at 1:30pm.

 

Tickets: $8.50 for adults, $6.50 for children under 12 and people 60 and over. Shows before 6:00pm are $6.50 for everyone. The box office opens 20 minutes before the first showtime of the day.

The Flounder

Play On - A New Virginia Theatre presents "The Flounder," an original comedy by Charlottesville playwright Alex Citron. 

 

Loosely based on a fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm, "The Flounder" tells the very peculiar story of an unhappy couple who are visited by a magical fish.  Though the fish is determined to bring joy to the unhappy man and woman, their competitive and greedy natures are more than a mere fish can handle, and the plans go wildly awry. 

 

Tickets range from $11 to $15. They are available online, by phone at 434.872.0184, and at the door. Both Thursday night performances are "pay-what-you-will."

Blue Ridge Mountain Music Fest

Wintergreen Performing Arts hosts the 3rd Annual Blue Ridge Mountain Music Fest, a full day of bluegrass, folk, old-time, and acoustic country performances. 

 

Performers include Robin and Linda Williams and Their Fine Group, Deer Creek Boys, The Company Store, The McKenzies with Kim and Jimbo Cary, and Country Hollow.

 

Admission: $20 for adults, $10 for ages 6-17, and free for children under 6. Admission wristbands will be available for purchase on the day of the event.
