GALESBURG WOMAN WINS FREE SEMESTER OF COLLEGE FROM MET
Congratulations to Marialice Doe from Galesburg!  Marialice won a free semester of college in MET’s annual giveaway.

“Wow, what a great thing to win!” said Marialice.  “I found out about the contest on the SET With MET! website as I was going over my 19-year-old daughter's college contract.  I purchased her contract when MET was brand new.  She was about a year old and it was a bit of a gamble at that time, but I knew it was a wise purchase to make.  She is now using her MET contract and it has made the college money crunch so much easier.

“My son will be the lucky one to benefit from this contest’s semester win as he only has two years purchased for him.  It will help out a lot and I thank you all for this great prize.”

MET EARNINGS PERMANENTLY TAX EXEMPT
The federal tax exemption on earnings, due to expire in 2010, was recently made permanent. Now MET earnings will continue to be tax exempt if used for qualified higher education expenses.

STUDENTS HAVE 15 YEARS TO USE MET CONTRACTS
Good news for MET contract holders:  The MET Board of Directors has made the nation’s first prepaid tuition program even more attractive by extending the timeframe in which students can use MET benefits from nine years to fifteen years.

NEED A TAX DEDUCTION?
Purchase a MET contract before December 31 and receive a state income tax deduction for the total contract price, including enrollment. A MET contract makes a great gift too.
