June 2006 Y-ME Illinois e-News
In This Edition:
Marathon Registration Is Now
Closed But You Can Still Run Pink
This year, The LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon closed on May 26th, almost two months earlier than last year!
This is proof positive that it is truly one of the most popular marathons in the world.
If you were one of the lucky ones who secured your running place before it closed, make your run more
meaningful by running Pink!
Pink Streak is growing bigger every day and it is going to be hard not to see one of those pink singlets streaking past you on October 22nd.
Don’t be left out, join the Pink Streak movement…a movement in the fight against breast cancer.
Don’t delay, training starts at the end of June. Pink Streak members have the option of training at no cost with CARA, Chicago Area Runners
Association. Just one of the many perks of being part of this amazing team.
Didn’t register in time and would still like to run the marathon as part
of Pink Streak? We have been allocated some additional spots for the marathon but they are filling up quickly,
contact Ciara McGrath at cmcgrath@y-me.org or 312-364-9071 for more information.

We are thrilled to welcome Jeanne Walton on board as our new Director of Development.

Y-ME Illinois Welcomes New Director
of Development
Jeanne Walton graduated with honors from Columbia College Chicago and earned a certificate from
DePaul University in Foundations of Public Service. She has worked in the nonprofit arena for over six years and has a diverse professional
background that is well suited for the multi-faceted responsibilities of the Director of Development position. Her extensive experience working
in major gifts, board development, volunteer relations, and special events will help bolster fundraising as Y-ME Illinois focuses on downstate
expansion.
Jeanne is honored to be a part of the dynamic Y-ME Illinois team during this exciting new phase of growth. Already she has found herself deeply
inspired by the women she has met who have defeated breast cancer and are finding unique and compassionate ways to give back. She looks forward to
working with our community of supporters to ensure the sustainability of the Y-ME mission so that no one ever faces breast cancer alone.
When away from the office Jeanne enjoys spending time with her Chocolate Labrador and participating in athletics of all types. She is a
softball enthusiast and volunteers as a coach for underprivileged girls ages 9-12 living in Chicago. Now in their second season she and the
team hope to win another championship victory!
