Dear Friend,
Welcome to October! Young Life and WyldLife clubs have started and are going strong (about 50 teens total each week are coming). Leaders
are entering into new relationships and deepening older ones. Coffees, Sonic shakes, lunches, are being had as leaders try to 'win the right to be
heard'. Student leaders are really stepping up to the challenge in club. Campaigners are going strong on Thursday's for high school teens. All
good stuff!
Recently I sat across the table from some middle school guys at lunch as another middle school guy talked about WyldLife club. "We do really fun
stuff like throw tennis balls around the gym (yes, it was safe) and then have a 30 minute bible study," (really it was all of 8 minutes
*grin*), to which another boy replied "My family is not very religious." His statement has stuck with me. I think because it says a lot about his
understanding of Jesus, and I would venture to say most teens would have responded the same way. They think of religion when they hear God,
Jesus, and the bible. They have a skewed perspective or picture of Christ. The idea of Jesus being relational, personal, and involved has never
entered their minds. So please pray. Pray for the gospel to be proclaimed. Pray for the Spirit's power to open minds and hearts. Pray for the
adults who are 'building bridges of friendship' with lost teens.
