2nd Week of Advent Devotions: Wednesday, 12/13/06

Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John the Baptist: “When you went out to John in the desert, what did you expect to see? A blade of grass bending in the wind? What did you go out to see? A man dressed up in fancy clothes? People who dress like that live in palaces! Tell me, what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes indeed, but you saw much more than a prophet. For John is the one of whom the scripture says: ‘I will send my messenger ahead of you to open the way for you.’ I assure you that John the Baptist is greater than anyone who has ever lived. But the one who is least in the Kingdom of heaven is greater than John.” (Matthew 11:7-11 TEV)

My Beloved Church

I like all the people in my church.

I like to eat the bread and drink the wine, Jesus’ Body and Blood.

I like to make the bread for church with my mom.

I like to pray.

I like to sing the songs.

I like to be an acolyte and hold the Bible.

I like to pass the offering basket.

I like to dance and play with my friends.

I like to get a blessing at the prayer station.

I like to have a little tea with my friends after church.

Almighty God, whom truly to know is everlasting life:

Grant us so perfectly to know your Son Jesus Christ

to be the way, the truth, and the life,

that we may steadfastly follow his steps in the way that leads to eternal life;

through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
