Together the Maine Women's Fund and Margo Mallar, Merrill Lynch Financial Advisor, are bringing breakfast events to five communities in
Maine to
watch the documentary, Kick Like a Girl and
have a group discussion with the Filmmaker, Jenny Mackenzie, and
Producer, Jennifer Jordan. The
group discussions will focus on the lessons demonstrated in the film,
which can be used every day to help women realize the skills and power
they
have
to
take charge and make financial
decisions
that can positively affect their lives.
Kick Like a Girl is the story of what happens when The Mighty Cheetahs, an undefeated third-grade girls
soccer team, competes in the boys division. With humor and honesty, the film reveals the reality of boy-girl
issues and what "kick like a girl" truly means on and off the playing field.
Refreshing and triumphant, Kick Like a Girl reminds us all of the lessons learned in competitive athletics and how sports has been one of
the
most effective instruments of social change in our lifetime.
Hardy Girls Healthy Women (HGHW) is also organizing
screenings this same week -- if you can't make a breakfast event, try for a lunchtime or evening event! HGHW screenings are indicated below. Please
RSVP to Megan at HGHW if you would like to attend one of their
screenings.
