BACK TO SCHOOL

 

It is that time of year for many of our kids and families.  The Punta de Mita Foundation has been hard at work pulling together different funding sources for building the two new classrooms that are needed in the Kinder school in Emiliano Zapata. The Padres de Familia organization, the Secretaria de Educacion Publica, as well as volunteer groups are all involved in making this important project happen.  Construction is currently underway and there will be a Volunteer Day Party on November 28th that will celebrate and inaugurate the new classrooms.  Pending funding we hope to continue our efforts in the other schools where children are still learning under trees and without desks and classrooms.  We are committed to the education projects for years to come and would like to thank Construcciones Truqui for their contribution to this project.

 

Punta de Mita Foundation is also happy to have sponsored a number of children from Becas Vallarta A.C., with a donation of 5,000 USD to this well-known non-profit.  In return Becas Vallarta will be helping Punta de Mita Foundation with our scholarship program.  Currently this program is sending two scholars to the primary at Costa Verde International School.  To learn more about Becas Vallarta please see this month's Banderas Beat.

RIVIERA RECICLA

 

Lastly, our grantee Riviera Recicla, has put the new recycling containers around the streets in the communities of Punta de Mita, Sayulita, San Pancho and Bucerias. The coordinated recycling efforts between the towns was made possible by the grant money from Punta de Mita Foundation.  We would like to thank all of the volunteers and those who made Riviera Recicla happen.  We would also like to thank Virgina Espino for her presentation "Alto a la Basura" that was given in San Pancho last week.  It was a great success and the children from Punta de Mita, as well as those from San Pancho learned a lot from the experience.  

 

REMINDER! Please remember to mark your calendars for our upcoming events. November 28th is the Thanksgiving Volunteer Day, December 5th is the presentation for our 2008 donors and December 6th is the Second Annual Punta de Mita Foundation Golf Tournament and the Cocktail Party at Hotel Des Aristes.
