Spring Break is from March 17-28. School will resume on March
31.

Varsity Baseball
Baseball practices start on March 3. Students interested in
participating are reminded to get an annual physical and submit paperwork to Mr. Messer.
Varsity Gold Cards
Basketball players are reminded that funds from sales of Varsity
Gold Cards are due Fri. March 29. Any unsold cards must also be turned in at this time.

Upper School Store
The Upper School Store, sponsored by the National Honor Society, is
open Mon., Wed. and Thurs. from 3:20 - 3:35 pm and Tues. and Thurs. from 8:05 - 8:25 am. Items
for sale include a limited number of Lawrence School sweatshirts and t-shirts, car magnets, hats, rally towels, pencils, pens,
and USB drives. If you have any questions regarding the operation of the store
or the merchandise please contact Cheryl Cook at the Upper School.
Upper School Canned Food
Drive
The Upper School is having a canned food drive for Harvest for
Hunger on Thursday, March
6. Students who bring in two or more canned goods will be able to dress down that day.
Lower School Spirit Day
The
Student Council at the Lower School is sponsoring a Spirit Day on
Friday, March 7. Information containing details will be sent
home soon.
Class Trips
Final payment for High School class trips is due to Tracy
Pedaline by Mon. March 10.
Seniors
Seniors need to order class rings, cap and gown, and graduation
announcements. Please see Mrs. Mattes for questions or more information.

Ski Club Announcement: The last ski club trip for both Lower and Upper School will be next
Tuesday, March 4. Please note the change from our regular Wednesday time; this is due to a change in our bus arrangements. Thank you for your
understanding!
Lower School Book Fair, Musical, and Arts & Writing Fair: The
Lower School Book Fair takes place the week of March 10-14. You may
preview items for sale and read more details by clicking here.
The store will be open during school hours, and also after the Lower School Musical
on March 12 and 13 (more details on the musical coming soon). Parents will also have the opportunity during this
time to view student work during the Arts and Writing Fair.
Lifesavers: The Lifesavers session with Bob Schuppel scheduled for this past Wednesday will be
rescheduled for April. More details to follow.
Middle School KidScripts: Following the
KidsScripts Writing Rally in the fall, middle school students were invited to write short stories which were then submitted to the Magical Theatre
Company for review. The MTC had the tough job of selecting two of the short stories to be turned into plays, which they will perform on Wednesday,
March 12 at 1 pm in the Garfield Theatre of the Upper School. Parents are invited to join us at that time, when we find out which student stories
were selected for the performance!
Lower School Grandparents Day: Invitations
for the Lower School Grandparents Day were mailed home this week. Please check your mail for the day and time of this event.
Benefit Auction
Solicitation Packets: Donation forms for the Annual Benefit Auction on May 3, 2008, were sent home today in Lower School
backpacks and via mail for Upper School students. Please help us build our
silent auction by requesting items (jewelry, kitchenware, sports items)
and experiences (restaurant certificates, sporting and event tickets) from family,
friends and business contacts. We have found that friends and businesses are
happy to support the school that makes such a difference in the lives of our

Benefit Auction
Invitation Help Needed: The Benefit committee will be stuffing invitations on March 11, 12 and 13 (Tuesday - Thursday)

Decorations Committee: The next meeting for the decorations committee is Friday,

Upper School Talent Show: The Upper School Talent
Show sponsored by National Honor Society will be held on April 11 in the afternoon. Any student in grades 7-12 interested in participating need
to attend one of the two audition dates next week on Tuesday, March 4 and Thursday, March 6, directly after
school. Students are free to leave once they are done auditioning. We hope to
make this year's performance the best yet. Please contact Cheryl Cook with any
questions.
Night at the Races Wrap-Up: Last weekend's Night at the Races fund raiser sponsored by the Athletic
Boosters Club raised $5300 to support Upper School athletics! Thank you to all the families, friends and staff who supported the event, and a special
thanks to those who volunteered and donated. A great time was had by all!
Lower School Assembly: On Friday, March 7,
instructors from "All About Learning" will guide students in building a Lego race car with a working motor. Students will then have the opportunity
to race their cars across the finish line. The kits are designed by Lego engineers, and are designed to help enhance skills in math, science,
three-dimensional shapes, patterning and mechanical vocabulary.
Community Partnerships for Youth: A local
nonprofit organization called "Community Partnerships for Youth" has compiled some helpful information on teen dating abuse. Upper School parents are
encouraged to review the information attached here, and share with their children. The organization also provides helpful parenting resources in the "helpful links" section
of their website, which is www.cp4y.org.
Summer School: Lawrence is currently enrolling students for Summer School programs, from June 16 -
July 11. The Lower School offers a morning academic program with remediation in reading, written expression, language arts and math. Its afternoon
program will focus on creativity and fun with technology, art and physical education. The Upper School offers courses such as math,
science, assistive technology, organization, music, drama, cooking, physical education, history, creative writing, keyboarding, forensics and more.
High school students may take courses for credit. Students do not need to be enrolled at Lawrence during the school year to register, so

OGT Testing: From March 10-14, 10th
graders will be taking the Ohio Graduation Test (juniors and seniors who have
not passed a section will also be retaking those section(s)). Students will be given appropriate testing
accommodations, based on specific learning needs addressed on a daily
basis at Lawrence School. To familiarize yourself with the
test and review information with your child, log onto the Ohio
Department of Education website www.ode.state.oh.us and go into "Testing
and Assessment." You then need to access "Ohio Graduation Test" followed by
"Practice Tests." If you have any questions, please contact Joyce Walker via

Free Parent Tech Classes: The next free technology course is "iTunes and iPod Basics" on Thursday, March 6, from 4-5:30 pm in Room 412 of the
Upper School. The course will discuss Podcasts, DRM, how to work the iPod, and how to get songs into your iPod from iTunes. Parents, staff and friends of the school are invited to attend. For

Congratulations, Will F: Congratulations to senior Will F. who recently placed second in a
history scholarship competition at St. Vincent College. Will is truly a historian in the making!
Science is Fun! Family Day: The Center for Science and Mathematics Education at CWRU is hosting a
Science is Fun! Family Day on Saturday, March 8, from 10 am - 4 pm at Case Western Reserve University, in Nord Hall 310. View broadcasts
from the largest national marine sanctuary in Monterey Bay (www.immersionpresents.org) and enjoy hands-on exhibits, friendly
competitions and demonstrations throughout the day. All ages.
