We donated children's bikes to Urban Health Plan's physical activity day in the Bronx on June 7.  Here is one of the happy winners!

Our youth ride club kicked off its spring season on April 27.  Click on this photo to see a short video of the group heading out from LIC.

As part of their corproate Impact Day on June 6, we had 30 volunteers from Deloitte help us get ready for the summer at LIC.  They stripped and sorted unusable bike parts and helped fix up some kids bikes.

We've been busy this spring!

As the photos show- lot's of good things have been happening at Recycle-A-Bicycle.   We refurbished and donated 28 bikes for charity giveaways, co-sponsored two events for Bike Month, had a film shown in the Bike Film Festival, 14 students completed their internships in our retail stores, and for the spring ride season we had on average 25 youth per trip.  We are so grateful to our donors, volunteers and partners who help us to make this all possible.

Upcoming event:
  • June 21, 1-4pm, Pearl Street between Front and Plymouth Streets, it's the DUMBO Summer Celebration for Kids.   DOT will be distributing free helmets, Bike NY will be offering "Teach Your Child to Ride" class, we will be doing free bike safety checks for kids and Paint Across America will be making a mural- incorporating recycled bike parts!
Support Recycle-A-Bicycle:
  • The Patagonia store in Soho at 101 Wooster has kicked off its Voice Your Choice campaign.  We have been selected as one of 5 possible charities to receive a donation of $4,000.  Please go down to the store between now and July 19 to vote for Recycle-A-Bicycle.  Don't forget to tell your friends, or better yet, bring them along!  We need your vote to help us receive these funds.

With the help of volunteers and some of our student interns, we made about 700 bicycle spoke flowers with kids at the Grand Central Earth Day Festival April 18-19.

The Inaugural LIC Bike Parade May 10 at Socrates Sculpture Park was a great success- we had over 400 attendees!  After receiving free safety checks and tune-ups as well as decorating bikes with recycled materials, everyone rode to Queensbridge Park.

Thanks to the generous support of FUJI America and the medical and dental staff of Woodhull Hospital, we've been able to add 14 new bicycles to our ride fleet.  Thank you so much for your generosity!
