New at Rock-Pond Solutions

Rock-Pond is Coming to a User Group Near You
Great athletes train hard, thrive on sharpening their edge and focus on acquiring and keeping a competitive advantage. The adage "you only have what you bring to the game" is important to understand. Apply these principles to your professional life, specifically with the software you use every day, and you'll be winning on and off the court.

Too often, we get in a rut in our understanding, only using the features of the software we learned during the initial implementation. Whether it is Windows XP, Microsoft Office or the home infusion software you use every day, make a commitment to constantly learn and keep up with the new features as they are made available. Go back and review commonly used features for new efficiencies. Hire a coach, network with your peers.  When the job gets tough, you only have what you bring to the keyboard.

Rock-Pond Solutions will be exhibiting and presenting at four user conferences this fall. If you are using CPR+ from DHS, Ascend-HI from Hanns On Software or HomecareNet from Healthcare Automation, we expect to see you there.

Home Infusion Provider Turns to Rock-Pond Solutions for Business Consolidation Support
A large home infusion provider was recently faced with stabilizing two newly acquired branches, consolidating two different software systems in two different business markets. Rock-Pond demonstrated how Home Infusion Reports and our consulting services bring clarity to the key financial and business metrics and support the development of sound business processes during times of change. The ability to produce the same reports from multiple systems and establish a common ground at the outset of a consolidation project sets a clear direction and establishes a means to measure progress. Rock-Pond Solutions services are especially valuable during due diligence and post acquisition periods of expanding companies.

Report of the Month

Each month Rock-Solid Intelligence features a report from Home Infusion Reports that give you critical business information from the data you already have.

Active / On-hold Patients (Without a Delivery in XX Days) Report
Keeping your patient census current requires discipline at the front end of your business and in communication between your departments. When a patient goes into the hospital or off-service for any reason, someone must take responsibility to change the patient status in the computer. This action triggers other critical activities such as holding off on compounding the next prescription, picking up expensive equipment at the patient home, adjusting the nurse schedule, etc.

This report will help you audit your patient status by printing out the list of active and on-hold patients that have not had a delivery in a specified number of days. The original use for the report was to recover equipment on rent with inactive patients. This report is also great for managers to make sure the patient census is correct so the other patient and therapy reports will provide them with accurate information.

Technology tips of the Month

Each month Rock-Solid Intelligence shares a technology tip or software program that has made our work a little easier.

www.Tek-Tips.com Delivers
At Rock-Pond, we've made a tremendous investment in leveraging technologies such as Crystal Reports from Business Objects and SQL Server from Microsoft to solve the information needs for home infusion providers. The problem is we often get "stuck" trying to figure out how to make the software do what we want it to do. One of the best Internet resources I've found to help is www.Tek-Tips.com, a free forum for computer professionals. The next time you get stuck trying to figure out a technical issue, give them a try.

Listserv

And make sure you take advantage of the listserv provided by your home infusion software vendor as well as the NHIA list serve for the home infusion industry (www.NHIAnet.org).  Membership is required (and well worth it) for access to the NHIA listserv.

Partner Connections

Rock-Pond Solutions enjoys the opportunity to work along side the most innovative people and organizations in the industry. Each month our partners share their experience, knowledge, and insight to help you solve a day-to-day problem, keep you informed of industry trends, deliver critical business information, and save you time and money.
