WiMAX OSS Component
Integration
- In our first article dealing with OSS basics and with the various OSS subsystems, we touched upon the crucial task of integrating or
closely coupling the various subsystems so that the network as a whole exhibited a pervasive intelligence and responded in a cohesive manner to
network changes-changes reflecting modifications in subscriber service bundles or the introduction of new hardware or software
components.
WiMAX and OSS
By: Dan Sweeney
Most WiMAX networks
operating today have, at best, rudimentary OSS (Operations Support
Systems).
This puts them at a clear disadvantage in respect to established
landline networks, almost all of which utilize extensive suites of OSS
software.

Omnitronix
- Unplanned remote site downtime due to equipment
and power failure, and adverse environmental
conditions can severely impair networks. Omnitronix products monitor,
access and control remote sites to ensure reliability, and reduce
costs.
Monitor and Control
The Omnitronix SNMP-Link and PowerBoss One (PB1) enable administrators
to monitor and control SNMP and non-SNMP-compliant equipment. Equipment
failure can be detected and devices can be power-cycled to restore
operation. In addition to making remote WiMAX sites more reliable, this
reduces
equipment costs, and consolidates management infrastructure.
