Ah, those brick walls

This week I was talking with a customer-friend (making customer-friends is one of the most lovely rewards of my work) and she asked me about my future radio show on FM107.  I decided to share with her my frustration that we haven’t found a good co-sponsor/advertiser for the show* and so, while everything else is in place, I feel stuck at the bottom of a brick wall.  It prompted her to send me an article from the Wall Street Journal Online and it was so moving that I would like to simply share it for this end of September Fairy Godmother e-newsletter edition.  (I’ve pasted the link below.)

Mary, my customer-friend, had found it through a daily inspiration website called DailyGood, www.dailygood.org, “DailyGood is a free, daily email service that delivers a little bit of inspiring goodness to 60,907 people without any costs, advertising or agendas. Inspiration of the Day:
Professor Randy Pausch of Carnegie Mellon University was about to give a lecture Tuesday afternoon. Before saying a word, he received a standing ovation from 400 students and colleagues. He motioned for them to sit down; "Make me earn it," he joked. Top professors are asked to give hypothetical final talks on the theme: What wisdom would we impart to the world if we knew it was our last chance? It can be an intriguing hour, watching healthy professors consider their demise and ruminate over subjects dear to them. But Dr. Pausch's speech was more than just an academic exercise. The 46-year-old father of three has pancreatic cancer and is expected to live for just a few months. I hope you enjoy it.   His wisdom about the brick walls in our lives is very good and how cool would it be to create a Disney ride.
