Fall 2008
Dear Survivors, Supporters and Friends,
As we round the corner towards the end of 2008, we would like to say thank you for making this the most successful year in
CCC’s history.
We don’t mean to toot our own horn (well maybe just a little) but the response to our new website has been tremendous. We added
more functionality and features geared towards giving young adult cancer survivors the information they need to access and succeed in
education after high school.
We also set a goal in 2008 to simplify the search for financial aid for all young adult cancer survivors. It began with the
question, ‘How can we make the difficult world of financial aid easier for survivors to navigate?’ Our solution is CCC Pedia, the first-of-its kind database containing centralized information on over 3,000 national college scholarships specifically for
young adult cancer survivors.
We are also proud to announce that 2008 was our largest scholarship pool to date. With the help of our renowned
Scholarship Committee, we awarded college scholarships to 20 incredible young adult cancer survivors who are making
their higher education dreams a reality. We believe that their stories of courage, survival and hope will inspire you to create positive change
in your own life. Read more...
This fall has been full of change. We believe that you are going to be impressed with the
new CCC. Thank you again for your support during this period of transition. We hope that you will join us in the exciting journey ahead.
Best Wishes,
Carolyn,
Jamie and Whitney |

“My tenacity and empathy fuel my desire to help change my world. I am strong, and my persistence is going to help
me achieve my goals. Knowing the resources I have and not utilizing them is unacceptable. My future starts with
tomorrow, and tomorrow looks promising because it starts with a chance at a higher education.” --Anna Alcaro, Penn State
University

“If I strive to reach a goal I will not let
anything obstruct me. I will work hard until I fulfill my dreams, because if I had ever given up on fighting cancer, I would not be alive right
now.”--Hunter Durfee, Keene State College
